Sea, See, Si is a collection of new works by Stan Welsh. Work in the show will include ceramic sculpture, collage and prints. This collection of work is inspired by human migration and the things we carry. Opening Reception with Artist and refreshments Friday, March 3rd from 6-9 pm.
Stan Welsh was born in 1951 and grew up in Southern California in the town of Claremont 30 miles east of Los Angeles. Stan currently lives within three acres of property in the coastal mountains a few miles outside of Santa Cruz. In 1974 Stan earned his B.F.A. degree from Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City Missouri and in 1978 he earned his M.F.A. degree from Alfred University in New York State. Stan was a Professor at San Jose State University in the School of Art and Art History from 1981-2015 and is currently a Professor Emeritus.In 2005, Stan received the Arts Council Silicon Valley Artist Fellowship Award in 1990 he received a California Arts Council Award and in 1986 he received a National Endowment for the Arts Award.Stan’s work has been included in numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally and his work is represented in many important permanent collections including: Fred Marer collection, Ca., Oakland Museum, Ca., San Jose Museum, Ca., Daum Museum, Mo., Ceramic Research Center A.S.U. Art Museum, AZ. And the Sandy Besser Collection, N.M.
